During the Great Patriotic War, the officer of the Red Army Nikolai Kiselev faces an unthinkable task: he must withdraw from the Nazi-occupied Belorussian village Dolginovo behind the front line more than 200 people doomed to death in captivity. Will he be able to save old people, women, children – exhausted, frightened, who have lost loved ones and faith in salvation from the inevitable cruel reprisal? Jewish refugees, accompanied by Kiselev and several partisans from the “Avenger” squadron, will have to walk 1,500 kilometers, and this path will become the most dangerous test in their lives.
